ABOUT LEAP

LUNG CANCER EDUCATION & ADVOCACY FOR PATIENTS

The Lung Cancer Education and Advocacy for Patients (LEAP) aims to support lung cancer patients in Singapore through providing educational resources on the disease, and creating awareness through our patient advocacy group.

We aim to:

  • Chart a roadmap for lung cancer care from the patient perspective
  • Identify and break down barriers to accessing optimal care
  • Empower and engage patients through educational resources, peer support and community outreach
  • Enable a unified patients’ voice through a dedicated Patient Advocacy Group

PATIENT EDUCATION

Please refer to Lung Cancer Information and Events pages for more details.

PATIENT NAVIGATION PROGRAM

The Patient Navigation Program is set up to assist patients through their cancer journey. A Patient Navigator can help patients in multiple ways including:

  • To orientate new patients/caregivers
  • To provide educational materials
  • To facilitate visit and treatment
  • To provide social and psychological support
  • To facilitate implementation of community care support
  • To facilitate rehabilitation needs

In addition, a dedicated lung cancer nurse will assist in patient counselling, side effect management and supportive care.

PATIENT SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY GROUP

The lung cancer support group is set up for patients, survivors and caregivers to engage and support each other, with the guidance from our medical social workers and lung cancer oncologists. Through therapeutic and social activities, we aim to provide a safe and supportive space for our lung cancer community to journey together. We also believe the voice and strength of our patient advocates to rally together to improve cancer care for all.

If you are interested to join the lung cancer support group or become a patient advocate, please contact us at leap@nccs.com.sg

We will be hearing from our next 2 patient advocates, Mr Benjamin Ng and Ms Yvonne Yap, on their respective journeys with lung cancer and why they decided to take on the role of patient advocate!
If their testimonies touched you and you wish to belong to a lung cancer support group, please email us at leap@nccs.com.sg 😊 Our support group has monthly activities - alternating between physical support group sessions with NCC Medical Social Workers, and exercise sessions around various places in Singapore! We are also in the midst of growing our advocacy base so if you would like to join as a patient advocate/learn more about patient advocacy, please contact us as well!

God bless Dr. IREBO for his wonderful work in my life, I was suffering from FIBROMYALGIA since 2017 and I was taking my medications, I was not satisfied, I needed to get FIBROMYALGIA out of my system, I looked for some possible cure for (fibromyalgia) I saw a comment about Dr. IREBO, how he cured fibromyalgia with his herbal medicine, I contacted him and he guided me. I asked him for solutions, he started the remedy for my health, he sent me the medicine and after 14 days I was cured of (FIBROMYALGIA), thanks Dr. IREBO, you can send him an email to herbalistirebo@gmail.com 👇 👇 👇 Doctor ireboo

On Tuesday, we organized our first-ever international patient advocate panel discussion. We were pleased to invite 5 panelists to speak during this meeting, namely Ms Lillian Leigh (Australia), Ms Shani Shilo (Israel), Dr Prakaitip Susilparat (Thailand), Mr Francis Goh (Singapore) and Dr Daniel Tan (Singapore). The panelist shared their advocacy journey, what motivated them, and what challenges they faced during their advocacy journey. They also shared how we should come together to build Asian lung cancer advocacy with urgency and intention. Dr Daniel Tan then gave his input about how we should move forward from here and whats next in the Asian advocacy space.

Last Sunday, we organised the Light the Way walk for our local and international patient advocates and their supporters. While the lighted white ribbons lit the way for each other during the walk itself, it also represents how everyone needs to support each other through the cancer journey. We ended the walk by forming a large white ribbon together, symbolising unity in lung cancer care.
